People keep asking for another one after the success of our swap back in January, so here we go!
Stained Productions and Toronto Dark Arts Market presents an Artisan Supply Swap
Where: Ground Control, 1279 Queen Street West, Toronto
When: Thursday, August 1st, 8pm
Cost: free
Who: Artists, artisans, and crafters with supplies they no longer need.
Why: Find a new home for your unused art and craft supplies, take home some new-to-you goodies that will inspire you to create something new and different.
How: show up with anything you’d like to donate; we’ll sort it and then everyone will have the chance to choose some new stuff to take home with them.
What can you bring: any art and craft supplies or materials, as well as display items, tools, or packaging and merchandising materials, that are still in good condition but that you no longer want or need.
Don’t bring: unfinished projects, anything that is mostly used up (i.e. tube of paint with one small squeeze left, half an unfinished sweater), anything that is dirty or messy.
Other rules:
– everything you bring must be clean, in good working condition, and in a closed/sealed/labelled container where appropriate (no paint, loose beads, or glitter all over the venue, please!)
– organizers will receive your donations, then arrange stuff on tables and everyone will be allowed in at once – disputes over items will be resolved by the rock/paper/scissors method
– unclaimed items should be taken home by the person that originally brought them (**we know this probably won’t happen – any volunteers with a car willing to take stuff away or haul it to a charity shop are appreciated)
– this is an anonymous donated swap only – no payment will exchange hands for items – only bring what you’re willing to give away
– take about as much as you brought, don’t be a greedy guts (we’re keeping this casual, and not counting items and using tokens because that’s a lot of work and we’re all doing this for free… but be courteous, and not a dick)
Participants should arrive between 8pm and 8:45pm to drop off items, swap will start promptly at 9pm. Please support our wonderful host venue, who are offering us the space for this event for free, by having a beverage while you wait for the swap to begin.
To participate: please rsvp on our Facebook event page so we have an idea of head count. You do not need to tell us what you’re bringing. Show up on swap night with anything you’d like to donate. Have a drink, chat with other artisans, find some new stuff to work with, go home and create a masterpiece!
And in case it’s not clear… arts and crafts-related stuff only, please. This is not the place for your old fondue pot.
